Ambient is a reference design to show how Samsung ARTIK IoT Platform can be implemented into smart IoT light switch. Ambient is a product that we built to communicate and have closer relationship with Legrand, and made it's way to have a deal to put ARTIK 0 platform into their new light switch products.

ROLE
Design a smart IoT light switch with mass production in mind.

AMBIENT LEARNS USERS

Unlike other smart lighting systems, Ambient utilizes machine learning to adapt to users' habits and home layouts.

It learns from lighting patterns and commands, automatically illuminating pathways at night, sending timely messages between users, and mimicking occupancy when you're away by recreating past lighting behaviors.

The design development focused primarily on the front view, as it is the primary user interaction point.

The goal was to cluster similar features together, ensuring a clear, intuitive layout for easy visibility and functionality at a glance.

SEAMLESS INTERACTION

Extensive studies were conducted on the interaction between the switch and the user, focusing on subtle notifications for messages, alarms, and alerts.

To avoid unnecessary distractions, the lights gradually brighten as the user approaches and dim as they move away.
